Live life on 10: to gain a lot from life by being joyous and trying new activities.
Often, I would tell people when I depart from them to live life on 10. Now, that doesn't mean going out and living a reckless life and making all kinds of unwise, unproductive, or unfruitful decisions, and living life on 10 means being intentional about experiencing life to the fullest. If we go a little deeper, this also means not rushing through life, not spending all your energy trying to get rich, not taking the essential relationships in your life for granted, and not wasting a lot of your time on meaningless activities. These are just a few things that many of us men find ourselves either avoiding or not making a priority in our lives.
There is a very familiar scripture in John that states the enemy devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy while Christ came to give us life more abundantly. John 10:10. Once you surrender your life to Him, you have just gotten on the right path to live on 10. To stay on that path will take some discipline and consistency in all areas of your life.
Let's specifically talk about your leadership. My perspective regarding leadership is that to lead well, you have to be led. Who's leading you? Is it you, your job, material possessions, politics, or favorite pastime activities such as gaming, sports, or cars? Once you dig deep in your heart, your leader will emerge. You can spot your leader pretty quickly by the time you spend consumed with it, your expertise or knowledge when speaking about it, and the planning you do to be around it.
I discovered that to live life on 10, I needed to be led by the Holy Spirit. I know without a shadow of a doubt that He will LEAD and GUIDE me into all truth. He will discipline me and provide a level of consistency in my life. He will meet me whenever I want because He is ALWAYS available.
Once you have determined who you are led by, you can lead in every aspect of your life. Your main priority is in leading your family. You have to own that responsibility to create experiences that will enhance and enrich their lives, whether speaking the truth in love to them, making the hard decisions when it is not popular, or celebrating their lives to the fullest on special and non-special occasions.
Next, that leadership trickles down to your professional career in exhibiting character and integrity with the people you lead and influence. When that happens, you can move on to your community. Once you align and have the right priorities, living life on 10 will become second nature in all your decisions. I guarantee you will be amazed at your life's positive trajectory once you surrender to the true one who leads you.
Exercise Your Power this week-
1. Identify one of the things that you do that brings life-giving joy to your family and do it this week.
2. List the items of importance in your life and rank them in order of priority. This will determine what’s most important to you.
3. Identify one person this week that needs your encouragement and wisdom and spend time with them whether it be in person or on the phone. Give of yourself.
